Itinerary
DAY 01
Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech
Your journey begins in Marrakech, a city where history, culture, and daily life blend into a vibrant atmosphere. Upon arrival, you are greeted and transferred to your riad or hotel, often located within the old medina, where traditional architecture and peaceful courtyards offer a calm introduction to Morocco.
After settling in, step outside to explore the nearby streets. The energy builds as you approach Jemaa el-Fnaa, the city’s central square. Here, the atmosphere changes throughout the day—quiet in the morning, lively in the afternoon, and full of life by evening. Street performers, food stalls, and local vendors create a unique environment.
Take time to walk through the surrounding souks, where narrow alleys are filled with handmade crafts, textiles, and spices. This first day is about adjusting to the rhythm of Morocco, observing daily life, and preparing for the journey ahead. Return to your accommodation for a restful night.
DAY 02
Day 2: Marrakech to Dades Valley – Crossing the Atlas Mountains
After breakfast, leave Marrakech and begin your journey toward southern Morocco. The road climbs into the Atlas Mountains, offering wide views over valleys, terraced farms, and traditional Berber villages. As you drive through Tizi n’Tichka Pass, there are several opportunities to stop for photos and short breaks.
Continue to Ait Ben Haddou, a well-preserved fortified village made of earth and clay. Walking through its narrow paths gives insight into traditional architecture and the history of caravan trade routes.
The journey continues to Ouarzazate, often considered the gateway to the desert, before heading into the scenic Dades Valley. The landscape becomes more dramatic, with unusual rock formations and green valleys. Arrive in the evening and settle into your hotel.
DAY 03
Day 3: Dades Valley to Merzouga – From Valleys to Desert Dunes
The day begins with a drive through the Valley of Roses, known for its seasonal blooms and small villages. As you continue, the scenery shifts toward more rugged terrain until you reach Todra Gorge.
Here, you can walk along the riverbed between tall canyon walls that rise steeply on both sides. The area is peaceful and offers a chance to stretch your legs before continuing the journey.
By afternoon, the desert landscape becomes visible. Arrive in Merzouga, located at the edge of the Sahara. From here, you begin a camel trek across the dunes of Erg Chebbi. The ride takes you into the heart of the desert as the light changes toward sunset.
Reach your desert camp in time to watch the sun set over the dunes. After dinner, enjoy traditional music and the quiet of the desert before spending the first of two nights under a clear sky.
DAY 04
Day 4: A Full Day in the Sahara Desert
Rather than leaving the desert after a single night, this itinerary allows a full day to settle into the rhythm of the dunes. After a relaxed breakfast at camp, head out by 4×4 to visit a semi-nomadic Berber family living at the desert’s edge, and learn how daily life is shaped around water and the seasons in this remote landscape.
Spend the warmest hours of the afternoon back at camp — resting in the shade, trying your hand at sandboarding on the nearby dunes, or simply taking in the silence that sets the Sahara apart from anywhere else on this trip.
As the light turns golden in the late afternoon, climb a dune for a second sunset over the dunes before returning to camp for another traditional dinner and an evening of music around the fire, under the same clear desert sky.
DAY 05
Day 5: Merzouga to Fes – Crossing the Middle Atlas
After a final morning in the desert, leave the dunes behind and drive north through the Middle Atlas Mountains. The road passes through forested areas and open landscapes before reaching Ifrane, known for its clean streets and European-style architecture.
Continue to Fes, one of Morocco’s oldest and most important cultural centers. Upon arrival, transfer to your riad in or near the medina, where the group will spend the next two nights.
DAY 06
Day 6: A Day Exploring Fes
Spend a full day discovering Fes, Morocco’s spiritual and cultural capital. Wander the labyrinthine alleys of Fes el-Bali, the world’s largest car-free urban area, and visit the famous Chouara Tanneries, the exterior of the Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque and University — one of the oldest in the world — and the ornately carved Bou Inania Madrasa.
In the afternoon, browse the souks for leather goods, ceramics, and spices with your tour leader, or simply relax at your riad. Tonight is the group’s second night in Fes.
DAY 07
Day 7: Fes to Chefchaouen – From History to the Blue City
Start the day with a guided visit of Fes. Walk through the medina, visit traditional markets, and explore important sites such as Al Quaraouiyine University.
After the visit, leave Fes and head north toward the Rif Mountains. The road offers scenic views as the landscape becomes greener and more mountainous.
Arrive in Chefchaouen in the afternoon. Known for its blue-painted buildings, the town has a calm and relaxed atmosphere. Spend time walking through the narrow streets, taking photos, and enjoying the slower pace of life.
DAY 08
Day 8: Chefchaouen to Tangier – Journey to the Coast
On your final day, depart Chefchaouen and travel toward Tangier. The drive takes you through northern landscapes before reaching the coast.
In Tangier, visit Cap Spartel, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea. Continue to Hercules Caves, a well-known natural site with views over the ocean.
Depending on your plans, transfer to the airport, port, or your accommodation. This marks the end of your 7-day journey across Morocco.
