Itinerary

Day 1: Fes to Merzouga – Journey to the Desert

Depart early from Fes and begin your journey south through the Middle Atlas Mountains. The route takes you through the alpine-style town of Ifrane and into the cedar forests of Azrou, where monkeys can often be seen.

Continue through Midelt and follow the scenic Ziz Valley, known for its palm groves and wide views. The landscape gradually becomes more arid as you approach the Sahara.

Arrive in Merzouga in the late afternoon. Begin a camel trek across the dunes of Erg Chebbi, reaching your desert camp by sunset.

Enjoy dinner and spend the night in the camp, surrounded by the quiet of the desert.

Day 2: Merzouga – Desert Exploration (Second Night in Sahara)

Wake early to watch the sunrise over the dunes, one of the most memorable moments of the journey. After breakfast, return to the village by camel or 4×4.

This day is dedicated to exploring the desert region around Merzouga. Visit nearby villages, experience local culture, and discover different landscapes such as rocky desert areas and seasonal lakes.

You may also visit nomadic families or enjoy a quiet walk in the dunes. The slower pace of this day allows you to fully experience the desert environment beyond just an overnight stay.

Day 3: Merzouga to Dades Valley – From Desert to Canyons

After breakfast, leave the desert and begin your journey toward the west. Travel through open desert landscapes and small towns along the way.

Stop at Todra Gorge, where steep canyon walls create a dramatic setting. Take time for a short walk and enjoy the fresh air.

Continue toward Dades Valley, known for its winding roads and rock formations. The contrast between dry terrain and green valleys creates a unique landscape.
